Brush your teeth people

Oral surgery was successful yesterday. Had to have an apicoectomy and crown lengthening and oh what fun it is. Unfortunately a combination of heredity and not taking care of my teeth growing up makes for an expensive combination. On the bright side I get to eat chocolate ice cream all day on doctor's orders :)

The pain wasn't that bad but the oral surgeon prescribed percocet so I took one as the novocaine wore off. I decided to play some poker too :) I wasn't as sharp as I could have been but I didn't do too bad. Played 2 tables of 1/2 6max on Titan to get enough stars for the PSO and Titan freerolls coming up. I now have 1900 or so for the month...so I'll have it done tonight. I made $40 over that time plus cleared another $10 bonus.

Ok so someone on 2+2 mentioned a site called www.pokerfantasy.com. It seems to be the same software as Bodog but not on the same network so no sharing of players with them. I haven't downloaded it yet but you can cash in your pokerfantasy points for cool stuff. 2500 points gets you an Ipod or a Playstation Portable. I really want the PSP so I may have to try this site out. I read that there is hardly any traffic though. Maybe a few hundred players at prime hours. If anyone has any info on this site please let me know!

That's all for now...may the flop be with you!

the weekend

I hope everyone out there had a great thanksgiving. We moved away from the traditional turkey and made lamb chops, brisket and potatoes. YUMMY. Friday my wife got lots of good black Friday deals in the morning. Saturday was spent helping my mom move into her new apartment.

Thursday and Friday I cleared up my Party Poker $100 reload bonus. I lost about $65 overall playing at party so I made $35 out of the deal. I played mostly 2/4 bad beat jackpot tables because the jackpot was around 700k or so.

Today I finished up a Gaming Club $100 reload playing 1/2 6max. I faired much better here making about $110 playing on top of the bonus.

After that I decided to play some at Titan Poker and see if I can get enough stars to play the freeroll coming up there for PSO. What a great night :) Titan was one of the rooms where I started out in the red and just kept sinking. Tonight I am proud to say I am in the black :)

I found a really nice 2/4 6max table and made 120 there. It would have been more but my final round on the table my AQ two pair ran into a set of 5s. I also played a couple 1/2 tables and made another 10 or so there. So now I am up $6 overall on Titan :) yay

Tomorrow I have oral surgery to fix a broken tooth and take care of a cyst...fun fun...That's about it for now. May the flop be with you :)

not enough time for poker

its been a week and i really haven't played much. My excitement has come from 52 hands at Pokerstars 2/4 6 max and losing $120 in that span.

I have bonuses to work off at Party and Gaming Club by Friday and Sunday and I don't know if I'm going to be able too.

We are trying to get a new website up and we want to get it done by December 1st. Not sure if we'll hit that date but we're going to work as much as we can to do it. Fun fun.

So posting will be infrequent for the next couple of weeks. good luck!

HORSE

Haven't played much the last couple of days. Got a tooth pulled Monday and haven't been up for much.

Played in a HORSE tourney on Full Tilt last night (Holdem, Omaha hi/lo, Razz, Stud, Stud hi/lo) with game changing each blind level. I was playing very well through most of the tourney. 142 entrants in this $5 tourney and I was chip leader with around 35 players left. Unfortunately I lost a big razz hand and a big stud hi/lo hand and I was almost low man with 20 left. 16 get paid. Luckily Holdem came back around and I won a couple of big hands to put me back in the middle of the pack. I was around 9th in chips with 16 left and in the money. Then Omaha hi/lo came and I had AKK2 with A2 of spades. Flop came QT9 and one guy was all in and the other led into me. I only had 3 big bets left and I should have folded probably but I kept calling him down and lost to a straight of course. My opponent was someone who seemed to be playing almost every hand and hitting almost everything. He was chip leader and the hands I've seen him win were nuts. So I guess that kind of put me on tilt in calling me down. Oh well. EDIT: Finished 11th and made $14.20

That's about it. Nothing else exciting.

mmmm chocolate

Friday: +50
Saturday +90

I went to a chocoloate show in Manhattan yesterday morning. MMMMMMM CHOCOLATE. Each company that had a booth had samples so I had plenty of free (not really free since it costs $25 to get in) samples. We bought some truffles and some bars to bring home though.

Saturday I started my poker day playing the Bet365 5k freeroll. I got to play a whole 2 hands and i was done. Limped in with 55 hit my set on the turn. Other guy check raises me on flop and hit his set of Tens on the turn. The end.

1/2 6max and 2/4 6max are still going well. I'm up over 500 so far this month plus my $100 bonus from bet365. Let's hope that continues :)

Bubble Boy

Brain freeze. I had it with 10 people left in the 46 man chiptalk.net tourney. 9 get paid. I have AJo in the SB. 3000 chips left with 300/600 blinds. Button raises to 1800. There are two people with shorter stacks. The raiser I have known to only show down good hands lately. So instead of folding and try to get into the money...what do I do? I go all in of course and run into AK. The end. sigh. I hate when I do stupid things like that.

Now on the flip side I shouldn't have really even made it that far. With 50/100 blinds I had A3 in the CO and I pushed all in after it was folded to me. Both the SB and BB call with AT and AK. The flop came J33 :) and I tripled up. I played well after that until the bubble :(

Tried Titan again and was able to make about $20 playing some short handed and full ring.

Also jumped on Pokerstars 2/4 short handed again and made about $40. Not bad. Man the swings were going to kill me though. I was up 40 at one point only to have KK in a big pot get rivered. then I was down 15. I played heads up with someone for a few hands after the table started breaking up and got back up to +10 and jumped off.

That's about it here. May the flop be with you!

busy busy busy

Been busy the last few days. Not much time to play poker. Got my $100 bonus from bet365 and and played for about 40 minutes on titan yesterday after they gave a $10 bonus just to reel you back in. Of course more of the same as I got destroyed as usual there. I hold 66. Flop comes 655 with 2 spades. Turn is a T. River is a T. He shows T8 of spades for runner runner higher full house. Same guy next hand flops trip 3s against my top pair. Unreal. I'll try again later as I need to play a certain amount to get into a $2500 freeroll there for people who signed up through PSO.

I'll be playing in the chiptalk.net tourney tonight so hopefully I'll have something good to report tomorrow :) Til then...may the flop be with you!

2/4 6max goodness

I took my first venture into 2/4 6max on Pokerstars on Saturday night. I only played 1 table and what a good table it was. It was a very passive table and I was getting a lot of friendly flops which I either hit or weren't good for my opponents either. So after an hour or so of playing I left the table +131 :)

I ordered another poker book which I received yesterday called Weighing the Odds by King Yao. I've heard mixed reviews about it so I am only expecting some supplementary knowledge to the books I've already read. I've heard it has some good statistical analysis which is what I'm looking for. I need to finish a couple of other books first though.

So my "still need to finish list":
Little Green Book by Phil Gordon - 50% finished
Tao of Poker by Larry Phillips - 33% finished
Harrington on Holdem Vol 2 - 66% finished
Weighing the Odds by King Yao - haven't started
Super system 2 by Doyle Brunson - 90% finished

Maybe this is why my NL game isn't as good as it could be :)

Oh before I finish.... TERRELL OWENS YOU PIECE OF POO STFU....MY FANTASY TEAM NEEDS YOU. Thank you drive thru...and may the flop be with you!

Finally feeling a little better but I'm still stuffed up. Didn't get to play much yesterday but I first hopped on Party to try to hit hand 2,800,000,000. I only played for 20 minutes on 2 tables and was up like $1.50. Joined the $20000 freeroll shortly thereafter and did well early but wasn't really paying attention because I was sick. I got in a hand with the big stack who was limping almost every hand. I had A5 in the big blind and the flop came A98. My 5 hit the turn and all our chips went in and he had 88 for the flopped set. I really played that hand horribly but I was ready to take a nap anyway.

I should have been out with my friends but since I was sick I jumped on Prima to play in Grinder's blog tourney. There were 8 players for a $5 Limit Hold'em tournament. I started out well and had an above average chip stack in the beginning of the tournament. I played extremely aggressive and managed to win quite a few pots with ace high. The first key hand for me was at the 25/50 level. I raised in middle position with AKs. BB called. Flop was like 732. BB checks, I bet, BB raises, I reraise, he calls. Turn was a Q I think (sorry my memory is shot) he checked, I bet, he folded.

I was stealing blinds a lot with decent hands. Then the key hand came. I think it was at the 100/200 level. UTG raised and I had AA on the button I think and reraised. Flop came KQx. He bet, I called. Turn was an A. He checked, I bet, he raised, I called. River was a blank he bet out and I raised. He called and showed AK and he only had like 200 chips left. I think I was almost at 4000 chips now.

I had built my stack up to about 6000 when it got down to 3 handed with bluefurryal and Grinder. Grinder was on a roller coaster ride and was down to his last couple hundred chips and somehow managed to take the chip lead. He kept having to go all in and winning. Meanwhile I kept getting decent cards for 3 handed play in the SB. bluefurryal kept owning me from the BB and I managed to lose the lead and was suddenly in 3rd place. Key hand to knock me down: Q9s in SB. I raise he calls. flop Qxx 2 hearts. I check raise him on the flop he calls. 9h on turn giving me 2 pair. I bet he calls. river is 4th heart. i check he bets I call, he has the Ah.

After an eternity of 3 handed play, the blinds were still shooting up and we finally knocked out Grinder. I won a nice hand with TT and then I had AJs on the button with 400/800 blinds. Low cards on the flop he bet I called. He checked the turn and I bet and took it down. He was running low on chips now and in the next few hands he got his chips all in and I won the tourney and the $20 first prize

My apologies for my memory not being better. Thanks for setting it up Grinder. May the flop be with you!

It's that time of year

Every fall around this time I end up getting a cold. It never fails. As soon as the temperature starts these violent swing from 70 to 40 back to 70, I end up catching something. My nose and throat don't like me but the rest of me isn't to bad at least. I can still function :)

So I haven't played much the last couple of days. Wednesday I only played briefly and lost $20 on Bet365. I then played in the $20,000 freeroll at 7pm on PartyPoker. Their tournament was having many issues and kept pausing. There were 853 of us left out of 3500 and then they cancelled the tournament!!! I was hoping they would divide up the prize pool but they still haven't. I emailed Party's support and they said they have escalated my request to whoever is in charge of that. Guess we'll see.

If you don't know, PartyPoker is having a 3 billionth hand thing and every 5 million hands until it gets there, the table that plays that hand gets extra money. I think hand number 2,975,000,000 shared $18,000 at the low limits. The money goes up depending on what stakes you are playing at. So I sat down about a half hour before it was going to hit at 2 1/2 6max tables. I managed to make about $25 while I was there and I missed the money hand by about 250 hands. After the money hand hits they then announce a $20000 freeroll for first 2000 registrants. So I hopped on that and finished 500 something. Nice pot building I had KQ on the button with 4 limpers and I called. Flop QT4 or something. One guy min bet, another guy called and I pushed all in. The flop caller called with AQ and I was done.

9:30 came the chiptalk.net tournament. I unfortunately don't remember many hands from last night. A lot of my chips were accumulated by stealing blinds. I played really tight most of the night so a few times I was able to get away with true steals with junk :) So a few hours later I made it into the money and managed to finish in 4th place and $52 :)

Good Start

Played about 350 hands of 1/2 6max to start clearing the Bet365 bonus and I was on fire. I felt like I could do no wrong and ended up about +121. I gave $6 back on a 5th place sit and go finish but a great day overall :)

This win (un)officially put me over the 10k bankroll mark! It is kind of uneventful though because I realized as I was entering the numbers in my spreadsheet that I had a miscalculation and I really passed the mark a few days ago. So as long as I didn't make any other mistakes, my bankroll is now at $10,232.88 which is nice and pretty :) Now in the case of full disclosure, a little less than half of that is from bonus money. That waters it down a bit but money is money :)

More 1/2 6 max clearing today. Maybe I'll take a stab at 2/4 6max. Just maybe.

May the flop be with you!

October Report

Over the weekend I played 1/2 6max and 2/4 and made around $100 or so. So definitely a nice ending for a month that started horribly. Unfortunately I didn't finish off the Poker Rewards $150 bonus in time and lost out on that.

So here are my numbers for October:
Profit: $201.32
Bonuses: $195

Total: $396.32

So after starting the month almost $400 in the hole, that feels really good.

Goals for November:
Take 100BB shot and play at 2/4 and 3/6
Finally break the 10k bankroll mark (I'm $50 short)
Win a seat in a $200 or higher tournament.

To answer Chipper's question from his comment the other day:
"How much of a bankroll did you bring with you? Is $200 enough to sit down at most limit tables without feeling short stacked?"

My live bankroll stood around $690 when I went to Vegas. In the first couple of days I lost almost $170 and then had to win it back. So I'd say 500 would be good for a week's trip at the low limits.

On 2/4 up to 4/8 tables, minimum buyin is $40 and some people do buy in for the min. At 2/4 and 3/6 most people buy in with $100. At 4/8, I sat down with $120 and didn't feel short stacked. 15BB is plenty to last a while if you play tight. Many at the table did have $200 in front of them though.

That's about it from here...may the flop be with you!
