Almost the new year

My monthly goal of $2000 probably won't happen but I'm trying my hardest :) I'm at about $1100 at the moment so if I try really hard I might be able to get to $1400 or so. I guess we'll see. I've been playing really well since I got back from the trip but had a minor hiccough at Ultimatebet.

PokerFantasy has been going really well lately and I've made over $800 there alone this month. I have about 1700 pokerfantasy points out of the 2500 I need for the Sony PSP :)

Just finished up the Bet365 $100 bonus so hopefully they will credit that to my account soon.

That's about it for now...Have a happy new year and may the flop be with you!

Back home

After a nice relaxing weekend near Boston, I'm back home in NJ and back to playing poker. Got home Monday night and played a little on Bet365 and made $50 at 1/2 6max. Played on PokerFantasy a bit this morning and was up almost $50 but lost all that back trying some 2/4 6max where every hand I just got pummelled repeatedly. So my monthly profit is about $900. Still a ways to go to get to the 2k mark. Hopefully I can get to at least the $1000 plateau before the end of the month. $1200 would make me a happy camper at this point.

I need to study up on short handed concepts a bit more it seems. I feel like I'm folding too much but then every time I don't fold I'm losing too. Could just be variance but when its down to 3 or 4 players at the table I look at other players and I'm not sure if they're really good or just really bad and lucky.

Really bad and lucky is when original raiser calls 2 bets cold on the turn with AKTT board with 99 and catches 9 on river to kill my straight.

Then there are the times I am in the BB and the SB raises me every time and it seems like every time I have 92o. If I decide to play back I end up missing the flop. Should I get into a blind war with nothing? My opponent may very well have nothing too. I need to get a grasp on these types of hands most of all.

That's it for now...happy holidays everyone :)

Team Poker

Last night was the Chiptalk Tilters team's first game. The format consists of 5 single table tournaments each played by a different team member. Our team did pretty well. We had 1st, 2nd (me), 3rd, 8th and 10th place finishes. This is good for 4th place at the moment. We have 2 more nights of tournaments to move up. I almost had a 1st place finish. Long long battle heads up and the lead went back and forth a few times but it was not to be.

I now have about 1250 points at pokerfantasy so I'm half way to the PSP :) I've had a rough couple of days at the tables there and have lost 3 or 4 buyins going all in with the % favorite. AK lost to AQ who hit their Q, AK vs AJ who hit their J. Brutal.

I played some 2 and 3 handed 3/6 there as well to rack up some of those points. I was +60 then -90 then +50 and after an hour ended up ......EVEN. I left with exactly what I bought in with, so the guy I played must have lost a little due to rake :)

Tonight is the next team tourney but after that I will be away for a few days so I'm not sure how much I will get to play.

I am at around the $850 profit mark for December so I still have a bit to go to reach my goal. I need to try to find more time to play as the month comes to an end.

Have a great holiday and may the flop be with you.

Roller Coaster Ride

I was going to write Wednesday about how I sucked it up and decided I just needed to take a break for a day or two.

After my great start at 3/6 6max, I started my second try and was quickly up. Then I lost my mojo and preceded to lose $240 at this level in about 45 minutes. A couple of big hands were definitely tilt. Looking at the stats: I won 40% of the hands where I saw a flop. That's a nice winning percentage. However this also means I won lots of small pots and got hammered in the big ones. Two of them I definitely lost a few extra bets but I'll chalk it up to a learning experience.

That same day I lost $75 at $25NL on PokerFantasy. I now have about 900 points there and I have had a few nice days since which I'll get back to. To make up a little bit of this loss, I played some 2/4 6max on Golden Palace and made $110 back which was nice.

Wednesday I didn't play much and ended up down about $20 overall.

Thursday was BACK IN BUSINESS DAY. I tried the 3/6 6max games again and played 2 tables where I made about $150. I also made $101.62 playing $25NL. To top it off I cleared the $100 bonus at party so that all made up for the Tuesday from hell and then some. I should also have cleared my $150 pokerfantasy bonus but I haven't received it yet.

Friday is BACK IN BUSINESS PART 2. I found a nice $5 tournament on pokerfantasy which had $200 added. Only 20 people were in so it was a nice overlay. Top 3 got paid and I won $150 :) yay. I'm about even on the tables so a nice couple of days.

I'm almost halfway to my goal. I have made about $785 so far this month not including the $150 I should get from pokerfantasy. I'm almost done with my $150 bonus from golden palace as well. After that I have bonuses waiting at Bet365 and Pokerroom. My goal should be within reach. We may be going to Boston next weekend so that may put a dent in my goal but we'll just have to see. Until then, may the flop be with you!

Get out of the kiddy pool

I finally decided to take a stab at 3/6 6max. I started with a table on Golden Palace and my second hand I preceded to get smacked down with AJ against AK when 2 aces flopped. So I was -60 after my first couple rounds at the table. I managed to get about 15 of that back and down only -45.

I didn't let that hold me back and decided I'd go to Party since I have a bonus pending and I have the added value of PokerTracker. I brought up a couple tables and got onto the waiting lists after seeing that there were a couple of bad players at each table. As the waiting list went down I got more and more nervous. Unfortunately when I finally got on these tables, just like earlier, I started out down. I was getting eaten alive by some aggressive players and it took me a while to get my bearing and the balls to play back with nothing couple of times.

So at one point I was down about -130. -80 on one table and -50 on the other. Then I figured out what the hell I was doing and everything started to click. I also got lucky when the sharks started leaving the tables. At one point I was heads up with a really bad player who looked like me when I first got on the table. He folded to almost any aggression. So the -50 table suddenly became +10 :) On the flip side, my -80 soon became -30 when I flopped a set. I played about 2 and a half hours or so and finished up +90 overall.

I'll try again tonight and see if I can do the same. I have a goal to make $2000 by the end of the month. I'll include bonuses in that to make it a little easier on myself :) Until next time...may the flop be with you.

Weekend goodness

Friday: +80
Saturday: +90
Sunday: +67

Most of it was won at PokerFantasy where I am really enjoying $25 NL. It would be a bigger win if I didn't make a couple of really brain dead plays which I still have no idea why I thought I could have the best hand looking back on them. Oh well, at least I didn't finish in the red the last few days. I played some 2/4 and 1/2 6max and was about +45 and -30 so they evened out.

I have about 650 points now on PokerFantasy so I'm almost at the bonus clearing point (750 points) and then another few weeks to a PSP. As long as I continue to do well at PokerFantasy I'll continue my pursuit. I should figure out how much time it would take and figure out if I could just make that much bonus money faster somewhere else and buy it :)

Pokerroom.com has a new thing called Team tournaments. I am now a proud member of 1 of 3 chiptalk teams - The Chiptalk Tilters. Chipper is on my team too so check out his blog for extra commentary :) Hopefully we will get to start playing tomorrow night.

That's about it for now. May the flop be with you!

Just when it seems so easy

So after my greatest day ever Tuesday, I had one of my worst days ever Wednesday. Sigh.

I managed to lose $170 and I don't feel like I did anything wrong. On Pokerfantasy, I lost about 135 playing NL. QQ loses to J3 when guy had just a pair of 3s on the flop and hit the J on the turn. Flopped nut straight twice and had to split the pot both times. I was getting no cards. Tuesday every time I had AK I'd flop my ace. Wednesday the flop kept killin me. oh well. My final hand was heads up against a maniac and I flopped middle pair which I reraised on the flop but he happened to have middle pair with a better kicker.

tried a little 2/4 on Pokerstars and lost $30 there on a great table :(

tonight is the chiptalk.net tourney so hopefully that will go well. That's about it for now.

Back in Black

Let's see

Sunday night I played some 2/4 on Pokerstars and made $16 while clearing the first of three bonuses I have stacked there. So a nice $120 extra in my pocket from that :)

Back to PokerFantasy. I have been playing $25 NL exclusively and was up and down primarily breaking even. Until yesterday. I had the best single day ever :) +$260. What a wonderful time it was. My hands with aces were all flopping an ace :) It was nice. I even had some tough hands where I got clobbered. But I still managed the big win. Unfortunately this morning I've given back 70 of it. One had I had QQ and lost to J3 where a 3 was on the flop and J came on turn. Crazy. Oh well. Hopefully I'll get it back.

I have 239 pokerfantasy points now so about 1/10 of the way there. Slowly but surely. At I think 750 points, I get a $150 bonus though.

That's about it for now. May the flop be with you.

Slow start

Started the month off on the wrong foot. Played some 2/4 6max on Pokerstars and my second hand I got AA. AK9 flop with 2 clubs. River flush and I was down off the bat. Lost $54 Thursday.

Friday night I decided to start PokerFantasy.com. About 80% of the players seem to be from outside of North America. So it seems that their PSP/Ipod promo isn't helping them much (Only available in US/Canada). Only about 150-200 players on at any time I've looked. I got a little heads up action at 1/2. One game of .5/1 and a bunch at .25/.50 on the limit side. NL has a bunch more games.

So I played some .25/.50 NL which has a max $25 buyin. Unfortunately points don't seem to update until 7pm ET (midnight GMT).

So far:
.25/.5: 99 hands
.5/1: 232 hands
1/2: 32 hands
$25 NL: 158 hands
Total table hours: 5h 42m

Total Points: 82

So almost 1/25 of the way there. I wish I could see the breakdown of those points. I guess I need to learn to play NL better so I can clear it faster. I won about $30 in the process so at least that was a positive.

That's about it for now. I'll play a little more tonight. May the flop be with you!

November wrapup

The month of November was pretty good. Mostly played 1/2 and 2/4 6 max on a few sites with some 2/4 bad beat jackpot games on party poker. Overall, I did very well at 6 max and played like poo in the full ring games.

November:
Playing: +$591.51
Bonuses: +$280

Tota: 871.51

A bunch of my hands were not at sites that use PokerTracker but here's what we've got:

1/2 6max: 3636 hands: +$343.63 : 4.73BB/100
2/4: 879 hands: -74.25 : -2.11BB/100
2/4 6max: 659 hands: +$49.50: 1.88BB/100

Not bad at all. Still room for improvement at 2/4. Tilt is still a problem at times. Mainly it happens when the same guy keeps beating me in pots over and over by either outkicking me or rivering me repetitively. Other than that I feel like I'm playing pretty well. Some of my play may be questionable but many times I go with my gut based on the habits of my opponents. I may be applying some theories poorly as well. You win some you lose some. Only time will tell. My win rate is doing just fine so I'm not going to tweak much for now. As I move up I'm sure I will have to.

Next up will be bonuses at Golden Palace $150, Poker Rewards $50 and Bet365 $100. Then some PokerFantasy points and $150 bonus there to get my PSP from them. I hope December is good! May the flop be with you!
