April Report

I just had a very, very rough Sunday where nothing was working and I lost about $130. None of my big hands held up and I made some really bonehead plays here and there. Flipflop 2 times I got rivered and I'd be even for the day though. I still close April with my best month ever though!

Profit: $2,203.88
Bonus: $316.16
-----------------
Total: $2520.04

Let's hope I can keep that up!

I played the $30 Poker Fantasy tournament tonight and went out 13th of 15 after my QQ lost to AK. I then finished 34th of 198 in the Full Tilt Race for the Bracelet tournament where I want to win a $1500 buyin WSOP event. Guess that will have to wait. One of these weeks I will do it!

That's about it for now. May the flop be with you!

Rebuy?

The past few days I have made a couple hundred overall. I have been pretty much card dead other than a few very nice hands like flopping sets against big pairs.

I have been playing more tournaments as well, trying to hit a big score. I've started playing the $11 rebuy on Pokerstars but I still don't like rebuying or adding on. On Wednesday I got QQ early and double up against some guy going all in every hand. The very next hand I get JJ and he pushes again, so I call and he has A3. Ace on flop and i'm back to where I started. A few hands later I get JJ again and two other guys get all in. both have an ace, and of course ace on flop and I'm done. Now at this point I should probably rebuy as the table is nice and I can get those chips back. I just hate repeatedly spending $10 on the same tournament. If I make it past the rebuy period with a decent stack I will take the add on though. I guess I need more balls.

It doesn't happen often, but I think I have determined my least favorite sequence in poker. It is this:

Flop comes 973. I have 97. I make a pot size bet, one guy calls. Turn is a T. Again I make pot size bet, he calls. River is a T, most likely counterfeiting my two pair.

If he had a 9 with a better kicker, I'm done. If he had T8 or JT hoping for the straight, I'm done.

Do I check and hope he checks behind?
Do I bet and fold to a raise?
Do I check and call, hoping he is bluffing?

It was a $40 pot at that point and I checked. He bet $10. I folded. I'm still not sure what the best plan of attack is. I guess a small blocking bet is in order, but I felt like I was truly behind at this point. maybe I'll post this one on 2+2.

That's it for now. May the flop be with you!

2k

I finally broke the $2000 mark for the month. Let's hope that keeps going up up up. My Sunday actually wasn't going well as I was down $50 for the day until the PSO freeroll. Top 36 got paid and I managed to finish 32nd I think for $50. I got really lucky many times to stay alive. My stack dwindled early as I was paying attention to a $30 tournament I was playing on Poker Fantasy. I built up a nice stack early and then got 77 against a short stack who called with Q8s. He hit the Q on the river and my stack was halved. Then I got my AK all in and got called by QJ who hit two Qs. Queens killed me that tourney.

Luckily in the PSO freeroll, I was the one rivering everyone with crappier hands (sorry other PSOers I sucked out on). I truly was playing horribly.

Monday brought a nice $150 day and so far I'm up around $100 or so today. I am going to play some tournaments later so that may go down a bit as one is a rebuy. Let's hope I do well.

If you haven't seen yet, my future pet will be coming out this fall. check out my other scottwire blog to see the Ugobe Pleo.

May the flop be with you.

Back to the winning ways

Saturday was a very good day. Most of my play was on Poker Fantasy where I made about $230 for the day at $50NL. I played on WSEX for a short while and made about $12 there (-25 at 1/2 limit and made 37 at $100 NL).

A couple of guys on PF mentioned they were going to play a $5 tournament at UltimateBet so I decided to join them. Unfortunately they both busted out before the money. I got extremely lucky early. The poker gods made up for some of my bad beats.

I get KK and make a pot sized raise preflop. 3 callers. flop is 975. I bet, one calls, one raises. I reraise all in. Both call. One has 55, the other has 97. The behold the miracle river King and I just about triple up and become the early tournament leader. I stayed in the top 10 a while but then went card dead. I was about 47th in chips as we approached the money (top 100). I got KK and QQ and kept the stack around the average but then I couldn't get a playable hand for my life. If I got a half playable hand there was always a raise or two in front of me. So my stack dwindled to a point where I hated letting it get that low but where I usually push UTG with any 2, I got 32o and just hoped the BB would bring something good. I see A9s. Better than I had hoped except I had to call a raise. She only had 55, but the race went in her favor as there was no help for me. I finished 56th for $15. Not very exciting but not a bad return on investment I guess.

This puts my monthly total just shy of 2k. Shaping up to be my best month yet!

That's about it for now. Hopefully today will go just as well as yesterday :) May the flop be with you!.

Rough few days

The last few days have been rough. I've lost about $150 overall. A couple of rivers the other way and I would be up big.

One big hand I had KQ on a K94 flop. I bet the pot on the flop and the turn and guy with A9 spikes a 9 on the river. -30 or so.

Another hand I have 55 and the flop is 522. Checks around. turn is a 3. Straight and flush draw are out so I want people to fill up. I bet $1 into a $9 pot. Unfortunately the river is a 6. And yes...guy bets $13, I reraise to $50 expecting him to have a 4 for the straight. Nope. He flips over 66. So here I am -$50.

I took a few other beats like that plus some moronic semi bluffs that didn't pan out for me. I played with a bunch of guys from PSO one night and overplayed a couple. Then I had QQ. D-Onion raises to 4, I am in SB I reraise to 10. He calls. flop is T94 with 2 clubs. I bet the pot, $20. He calls. Turn brings the 4th club, a 6 I think. I check, he pushes his last $40. Now the pot is $60. Is he making a move because he knows I can't call? The only hands he can really call that flop bet with are AA/KK/TT/99 or the flush draw. I have to assume I'm beat right? Hands like that bug me. I hate laying down big pairs.

Another problem I am having when I'm losing is that I think everyone is making a play on me. So I keep calling these river bets and raises when I know I'm beat. I need to bop myself on the head for that.

That's about it for now. May the flop be with you.

Monday fun

I made about $90 playing $50NL on PokerFantasy and $25 NL on Party. I also got about $90 in rakeback from WSEX for the week. Not bad at all. It would have been more but I had 4 sets whacked and AJ with a flop of AJ8 lost to AK who called my bet-raise-reraise all in on the flop and he spiked a K on the river.

Throw in a nice basketball over/under pick on the Suns game last night by Moneymate for an extra $10 and it was a good day. It gave me a good excuse to do a sports bet at WSEX.

How do you like the new template for the blog? I get bored with the look every few months so I hope you guys and gals who actually read it don't mind.

I just finished my $100 Party bonus today and next up is Poker Rewards. The bonus coincides with qualifying for a PSO freeroll otherwise I may not have done this one. Many people are saying the games are rough there now. I used to do pretty well on the Prima sites but I haven't played there since Bet365 dropped their monthly bonus from 500 raked hands for $100 down to $50. I have never played NL there, so I'm not sure I want to jump into ring there. I may stick with 1/2 full and 6max. They used to be very good to me so lets see what happens.

That's about it for now. May the flop be with you!

Bye Bye Limit

The poker gods for some reason do not want me to move up to 3/6 Limit. Friday night I had a good run at 2/4 so I decided Saturday morning that I would try 3/6. I played 2 full ring tables and a short handed table. The same thing happens every time I do this, and this was no exception. AA cracked. QQ cracked. AQ, flop Axx, guy calls me down with 55 to hit 5 on river. Its killing me. So a couple hours later I'm down about $235.

Back to No Limit I go. I look for good tables around the net. I play a $50 table at PokerFantasy. I play a $100 table at WSEX. I play some $100 tables at Party to clear the bonus. Saturday morning is now a thing of the past. Since that point I have made $300 or so. Net +65 thankfully. I've even made a couple of really stupid plays and lost $50 or so I shouldn't have. Of course it helps when you get your opponent to bluff his whole $50 stack away when you flop a set of aces :)

My other fun adventure came Saturday night at UltimateBet. During the week moneymate posted on the PSO forum that there was a million dollar freeroll qualifier there. So I said what the heck and got in. About 3000 entrants and top 150 go to a Saturday qualifier. I was able to finish 68th or so and I'm in for the qualifier.

The qualifier Saturday night was rough. Around 1000 players left my stack was getting kind of small. I had 2 players go all in with me when I had AA so I tripled up. I was suddenly vaulted into the top 20 in chips. I was card dead for a while and in the middle of the pack with around 300 players left. I have about 20000 chips and blinds are 400/800. UTG raises to 3000. I have JJ in MP1. I mean to push all in but the slider messed me up. I push all but 2k. I have UTG covered. MP2 calls, folds around UTG pushes the rest of his chips in. Only 600 more chips so I can't reraise. I call, MP2 calls. Flop 755. I push my last 2k he calls.

UTG: AKo
Me: JJ
MP2: TT

JJ holds up and I'm in the top 10 in chips again with 57k.

I pretty much coasted from there. Almost got scared near the end as the short stacks didn't want to get knocked out. I hate stalling and try not to ever do it. One table with 4 short stacks had them all doing it. My table no one was stalling so it got a little scary. But I'm in for the million dollar freeroll on July 15! First prize is 500k and top 100 get something. Hopefully first place is in my future.

May the flop be with you!

Poker Fantasy VIP

I guess I play a lot there ;) They sent me a nice letter telling me I am a VIP. What's even nicer is that they sent me a men's T-shirt, a woman's t-shirt, a Gemaco Poker Fantasy branded deck of cards, and a really nice Poker Fantasy card protector. Keep sending stuff my way!

My apologies to Actyper, Riverrun and Moneymate. I just saw all your comments from the past month. I changed hosts last month and forgot to recreate the mailbox I had blogger telling me when new comments were posted. Silly me.

I have about 3500 points now on PF and I think I'm going to try for the 5500 point telescope unless they put something better in their store.

The past week I've also been playing World Poker Exchange which is now rake free! It is really nice because you get your rake you paid back every Monday. Games at 1/2 are mostly tight but there are still some weak players.

Cool videos on google:

Tournament Victory!

21 players
$30+3
$500 added to prize pool by the site.
Site: Poker Fantasy

1st place: $565

Woo! I was chip leader most of the way after I managed to suck out with JJ. 50/100 blinds and I was in the small blind. I raised to 400 and BB called. flop K42 and I pushed. Guy calls with K4. So my J hits the turn. What are you doing calling my raise with K4 anyway? So after that I really only played big hands and won blinds or knocked out smaller stacks.

My stack was fluctuating with 4 left, but I never was lower than 2nd place.

This win felt really good :)

Monthly total so far: $1200

On pace for a very nice month.

Nice start to April and a bad bubble

I've been playing well on the NL tables and am up about $300 there so far. Add in a cash in a $30 multi table for a 2nd place $330 win and I've got a nice start to April.

The nice start was almost even nicer. I played a $24+2 tournament where the top 2 players one a buy in to a $1500 WSOP event and $500 cash. 200 players or so and top 11 make the money. I gathered a nice stack in the middle of the tournament and was about 10th in chips with 80 players left. I then went card dead. I barely got any playable hands and was even tighter than I normally was. I was 20 of 40. 25 of 30. Until I was truly the short stack with 20 left. Blinds were going up and I had about 10000 chips with 20 left. Blinds were 300/600. But still no playable hands. People kept raising before me or going all in. I couldn't even steal blinds. So 400/800 rolls around with antes and I have 6500 chips. Blinds are about to come and UTG+1 I have JTo. Seeing my dwindling stack I push and hope I can have it fold around. AQ calls me and all rags fall and I'm done in 16th place. Right move? I say yes but I keep having this nagging thought in my head that I should have waited for an ace or king. Oh well. I'll get it next time.

That's about it for now. I WILL win an entry to the WSOP this year. This I command. And may the flop be with you...always!

March Report

Profit: $1355.90
Bonuses: $145.90
----------------
Total: $1501.20

Not bad at all. I've played less and made more staying at the No Limit tables. I've played a mix of $25, $50 and $100 tables. I jumped on a couple of juicy $200 NL tables as well.

I'd be up another $50 but some gamblers got the best of my JJ which i reraised all in only to get called by KQo and A9s with an ace hitting the river. That put me on a slide and I was soon down 100, but luckily I came back and ended up winning $20 overall.

I am going to start playing more WSOP qualifiers this month as well. I have a $27 qualifier I need to play on Bodog and a $24 tourney on Full Tilt. Hopefully one of these will pay off.

That's about it for now. Hopefully April will be even better! May the flop be with you...
