Poker Source Online 25,000 members

PSO now has 25000 members in their Poker Forum!

I signed up there about a little over a year ago and since have signed up for 10 poker room promotions and 1 frequent flopper promotion. I've made over 100,000 PSO points (100 PSO points = $1) in the process and gotten lots of cools stuff like:

$400 Poker Table
Poker Genie
Copag Cards
Amazon Gift Certificates which I've gotten PSP games, DVDs and books with.

You can get at least $60 worth of stuff for each room you sign up for and they have special upgrades in the forums for certain rooms as well. Even if you're a break even poker player, the PSO promotions make playing more than worth it.

They also offer a freeroll each month and a poker league with extra prizes.

So check out the web site and check out the poker forum for a good time.

Good luck at the tables and congrats PSO!

Weekend Stuff

Friday night I signed up for some $1000 freerolls on Party Poker just to play a little. The payout structure sucks but it is fun to play a little. 3500 people in each, top 220 get paid but 220 gets like 70 cents and 9th place gets like $10 so you can see how crappy it is to play for 6 hours.

So in one of them there were about 500 or so people left and I had to get up early Saturday morning so I said screw it. I had 20000 chips and blinds were 800/1600 I think. I pushed with 87s got called by AK and I won. 40k chips. I just kept going to lose my chips. Next hand, 24o and I pushed and got called by AA. board came 4 diamonds and I had the 4 of diamonds and won the hand. Won a couple blinds and had like 100k chips. Next hand I had 24o again and I raised to 20k, huge stack pushes 120k chips and I call. He has AK, I hit the 2 and doubled up. He had 15k chips left. Next hand I get JJ and same guy calls with TT. I knocked him out and I have like 240k chips. Bedtime so I just let myself get blinded off. I checked my account in the morning and I have $7 in it! :) woohoo I'm rich. $7 was good for an 11th to 20th place finish. So I'm glad I didn't stay up however many more hours just to win $7. Fun fun

Saturday we went to the Travel Show in NYC and got lots of booklets and free goodies. We attended two lectures by Arthur Frommer which were cool. I also got to take the Jeopardy test again but I unfortunately did not pass again :(

Not a good weekend for poker playing. Didn't do well in any of the tournaments I played and didn't get to play any cash games. That's it for now!

Treading Water in Feb

I'm up about $60 or so overall with bonuses. Haven't played a whole lot though. I would be up a few hundred if it weren't for my shots at 3/6 6max. I've since gone back down to 1/2 and 2/4 and have been doing ok. I have been playing some SNGs on Full Tilt as well. Mostly the $4.40 ones where you win a token to the $26 tourneys. I have won 2 tokens so far and finished 2nd 2 or 3 times for $10 each. Trying to accumulate a bunch and then take my shots at some bigger tourneys.
Tonight is the first PSO League tournament on Absolute so hopefully I'll make a good showing tonight. Tomorrow is the chiptalk.net weekly tournament.

That's about it for now. May the flop be with you!

Do I suck?

I dropped another $200 at 3/6 last night after a couple of tries nearly breaking even. No love for me. I feel like 3 or 4 hands going the other way put me back in the driver's seat though. Hand like...

UTG limps, SB calls, I check with 89o.

Flop is A84. SB bets, I call, UTG calls.
Turn 9. SB bets, I raise, UTG reraises???? AARRGGGHHHH.
River is whatever, UTG has A4 for flopped higher 2 pair.

later on...

UTG calls, I call on button with QT, BB checks

Flop Q98. UTG bets, I raise, BB folds, UTG reraises...I call down and he shows KK.

I am really starting to doubt myself. Part of it is because all my big pairs keep getting wacked. My big aces seem to never hit a flop sigh. Small sample size right? I'll take another shot soon but I may go back to 1/2 and 2/4 for a few days. Oh well. I'll make the permanent jump soon enough. Until then...may the flop be with you!

Take a shot?

I finally got back into the black last night with a +$60 night at 3/6 5max on paradise. Clearing $200 worth of bonus I've had stacked there for a while. So far so good.

I am thinking about taking a shot and I'm not sure which level to start. I have been jumping around so much between 1/2, 2/4 and 3/6 that I don't know if I should start at full ring or 6max either.

My test would be this. Take two 20BB buy-ins at whatever level. Once I double it, I move up to the next level and see how far I can take it.

I guess I should pick one site at which to do this at as well. I first thoughts are paradise as I clear my bonus money or Ultimatebet because I have bonus money + rakeback. Games are a little tougher at UB usually though. I still have some bonus to clear at Pokerstars as well. Party could be nice but I wouldn't get anything extra. I guess I'll think about it a little more.

That's it for now. May the flop be with you.

The agony of defeat

I took another shot at 3/6 6max yesterday. DISASTER. Played 2 tables and lost 50 BB in a hurry. I couldn't hit anything. Every one of my hands was a loser except for AJs I think. QQ and KK kept flopping aces. I finally hit a set with 88 on a T84 board. turn 6, river 7 and bitch has 99. It was incredible. No love for me. So -$300 or so for the day. Down about 450 so far this month. I'll hopefully work my way out of this hole. Time to clear some bonuses!

Rough start to February

So I played maybe an hour yesterday. Started off on 2/4 and was doing ok. Won a hand with KK and got back into the black after being in the red a while. I slowly start draining again and down about $25 when

I get QQ in UTG+1. I raise (duh) and MP2, CO and UTGall call.

Flop is AQ4.

UTG checks, I bet, MP2 calls, CO folds, UTG folds.

Turn J.

I bet, MP2 raises, I reraise, MP2 calls.

River K.

I bet, MP2 calls.

MP2 shows AA for three of a kind aces.

I mean come on.

So I then jump over to $50 NL. My second hand I have JJ in the CO and 5 people have called so I raise to $4. Three people call and flop is 754. SB leads out $4 (but only has $6 left)...other two guys fold and I call. He has 86 for a flopped straight.

Three hands later I have AK in MP1 and I raise to $3. Again 3 callers. Flop KK3 with 2 clubs. Same guy who had 86 before now leads out $3...UTG+1 calls and I raise to $19...one fold...UTG+1 reraises me all in. I call. He flips over K3 for a flopped full house.

Just not my day.

Took a break and after dinner at my father in law's I played in the chiptalk.net tournament. Made a good showing there at least. Finished 6th out of 45 and cashed $29.60. So not bad but still doesn't make up for earlier in the day. Such is poker...may the flop be with you!

January Report

I didn't have much time to play in January as we are getting some sites finished which I will post in my next entry. I somehow managed to win lots in very little time. Mainly due to money added tournaments :) I also had my first month since I've started playing poker where I cleared $0 in bonus money. None zip zero zilch. Crazy considering I have about $2000 in bonus money sitting around various sites waiting to be cleared.

So profit for January: $1373.02

Not a bad start to the year considering I have barely had time to play. Made some money, got my PSP and now we will hopefully make some money off the new websites we are about to put up.

Hope everyone else's January went well. May the flop be with you :)
